Lisa Edelstein began her
professional acting career while studying theater at N.Y.U.'s Tisch
School of the Arts. After performing in a wide range of productions
off and on Broadway, Lisa authored, composed and performed
the AIDS-related musical "Positive Me" at Ellen Stuart's
La Mama, in Manhattan. It was one of the earliest AIDS-related
theater productions.
In feature films, Lisa is probably best
remembered as Ben Stiller's aerobics-obsessed date in "Keeping the
Faith," directed by Edward Norton. Additional feature film credits
include Mel Gibson's
"What Women Want," "As Good
As It Gets," "Mrs. Harris," "Fathers and Sons," "Susan's Plan,"
"I'm Losing You," and
"Daddy Day
Care" She is also in the upcoming films: "Say
Uncle"
(formerly known as "Donut Hole") opposite Peter Paige and Kathy Najimy; and "Grilled" with Ray Romano
and Kevin James.
Lisa gained her first television experience as
a host of the cable series "Awake on the Wild Side." In the last
several years she has fearlessly taken on a wide variety of roles
for television. She played a call-girl girlfriend on "The West
Wing," David Conrad's lesbian sister on
"Relativity", the
transsexual boyfriend of James LeGros on "Ally McBeal" and an
Orthodox Jewish woman losing custody of her child on "Family Law."
Most recently she played James Spader's love interest on "The
Practice." Additional television credits include a series regular
role on
"Leap of Faith" and roles on
"Felicity", "Seinfeld" and
"Sports Night." She guest-starred on such shows as "Without A
Trace,"
"Frasier" "Presidio Med," "ER"
, "Mad About You." and
"Just
Shoot Me!". She
also performed the voice of "Mercy Grave" in the animated series
