House (TV Series) & cast

Get Your Kids In The Game : Kids Golf Clubs

The TV series House started on the Fox network on November 16, 2004. It has a total of 6 seasons and 132 episodes of approximately 43 minutes each. David Shore and Paul Attanasio, the heads of Heel and Toe Films, both created the program. Bryan Singer, the head of Bad Hat Harry Productions has been one of the executive producers of the program since its beginning.

The conception of House only took a few months. The entire team thought it would be interesting to have a strong central character, somebody who would be different than any other type of doctor seen of any other network. Fox’s condition to accept the show was that there would not be any white coats in any episode. And this condition gave birth to House, MD, who had a damaged leg arising from an incorrect diagnosis, and was forced to use a cane and has constant pain that leads him to a pain killer dependency.

Interesting similarities have been made throughout the series between Gregory House, (the main Character and Dr James Wilson, his best friend), and Sherlock Holmes (and his relationship with Dr John Watson, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). Many traits remind Sherlock Holmes. For example, both House and Holmes were using an investigation method that consisted to eliminate diagnosis logically as they were proved impossible. They were both playing instuments. Several mentions of Sherlock Holmes were made in the series, and especially in the episode “It’s a Wonderful Lie” in the season five, House receives a “second edition Conan Doyle” as a Christmas Gift.

During the 6 seasons of House, it has had high viewership ratings and has been in the top ten rated shows in the United States from its second through its fifth season. The show has been distributed in 66 countries and has been the most watched television program in the world in 2008.

Among many awards, the show received a People’s Choice Award, a Peabody Award, two Golden Globe Awards and four Prime-time Emmy Awards.

Fox has announced that House will return soon for a seventh season.
